Zusatztext

In the public opinion, the term "mission" seems to be problematic. Jochen Teuffel demonstrates that the Christian mission, based on the mother tongue principle, is genuinely determined by its reception and thus does not lead to the destruction of other cultures. Considerations of how the term "God" can be translated into other languages result in the conclusion that YHWH as the name which is decisive for one's life cannot be equated with "God." The European concept of God instead conflicts with the biblical witness to the Name and leads to religion as an ideology. The author shows that a Christian mission devoid of religion calls for tolerance and is geared towards the church which lives from the paschal mystery of Jesus Christ. The missionary activities of the church and evangelical obedience are given new meaning with the image of an eschatological "playing community"
