The sector-specific regulation of network industries has become one of the prevalent topics in (public) economic law. In addition to the importance of the branches of the economy, this is due mainly to the whole host of new questions at the law-economy interface. What challenges does the regulation of network industries pose to administrative organization and proceedings? What consequences does market development have for regulation? Will a more strongly centralized market regulation be necessary in Europe in the future? How is it possible to transfer sector-specific regulation to the general competition law? The authors of this volume deal with fundamental legal and economic questions concerning the regulation of network industries, and shed light on the current status and the perspectives of telecommunications, energy and railway law.
