Religions, in particular the so-called montheistic ons, play a controversial part in the present global conflicts which are perceived by many as "cultural struggles". Taking various standpoints, the authors of the articles in this volume question the extent to which it is the thinking of the One God which is on the one hand an undeceivable "progress in spirituality" and on the other hand a source of permanent and partially violent conflicts and of an unusual intolerance. However the authors are not concerned with proving or disproving the structural violence of the monotheistic idea.
