The letters of Philipp Jakob Spener (1635-1705), the founder of Pietism, are first-class sources for ecclesiastical and cultural history, offering as they do an insight into the development and the spread of the Pietist Movement. This edition which began with three volumes of letters from the Frankfurt period is making them available for the first time.
