Zusatztext
Martin Laube does a systematic reconstruction of Trutz Rendtorff's theory of Christianity, one of the most demanding and powerful theological concepts of the second half of the 20th century. The author begins by describing the different theological, philosophical and sociological sources of the theory of Christianity. Based on the observation that Rendtorff combined a theory of the modern age and theological self-reflections, he characterizes the theory of Christianity as a theological interpretation of the modern world which at the same time also tries conversely to reflect on its own standpoint in the modern world. It is in this context that the modern age appears to be a chapter in the history of the realization of Christian freedom, whereas theology helps this freedom to achieve an awareness of itself.
