Zusatztext
In the ten studies contained in this collection of essays, Matthias Köckert deals with the biblical basis of Christian ethics. He examines the changes in understanding the law in the literary history of the Old Testament and their theological conceptions. Each of the studies is a separate entity. Their subjects are Deuteronomy, the priestly documents (the examples used are circumcision, Passover, the Sabbath and sanctuary), the Sabbath Commandment, the fear of God and love for one's fellow men as the sum of the law in Lev 19, ethical problems with respect to unborn life in Ex 21, the law and prophecy, for example in Amos 1-2 and Deut 18 as well as Luther's interpretation of the Decalogue in his catechisms.
