Zusatztext

A holistic synopsis of inflammatory mechanisms in human disease, presenting key concepts in basic science through clinical perspectives in one comprehensive reference. Inflammation: From Chemical Mediators and Pathophysiology to Practice and Treatment is designed as an accessible, cutting-edge handbook for researchers, clinicians, instructors, and students. Sections address the fundamentals of innate and adaptive immune response, the molecular basis of inflammatory responses, and an overview of inflammatory cells and mediators. Further sections provide detailed analysis of inflammatory processes underlying acute and chronic diseases of the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and epidermal systems. In the final two sections, innovative and state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies are presented, concluding with innovations in drug discovery and the clinical treatment of representative inflammatory diseases. Detailed appendices provide reference values for laboratory tests of inflammatory diseases. An essential resource and comprehensive account of the underlying causes, mechanisms, diagnosis, resolutions, and treatments for inflammatory diseases.

Autorenportrait

Dr. Yong-Xiao Wang, MD, PhD, is Full Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology at Albany Medical College, Albany, New York, USA. He received his M.D. at the Wannan Medical College (China), Ph.D. at the Fourth Military Medical University (China), and postdoctoral training at the Technical University of Munich (Germany) as well as the University of Pennsylvania (USA). Dr. Wangs primary research interests have focused on basic, translational, and drug discovery research concerning cardiac arrhythmias and hypertrophy, pulmonary hypertension, asthma, and diabetes for over 30 years. In particular, he has extensive research experience in molecular geneses, regulatory mechanisms, network pathways, physiological functions, and the critical roles of calcium, redox, inflammatory, and other signaling in the aforementioned illnesses. Dr. Wang has been the corresponding author, first author, and key contributor in numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, andhas edited several books in the field including Pulmonary Vasculature Redox Signaling (Springer Nature, c. 2017) and Lung Inflammation in Health and Disease, Volumes 1 & 2 (Springer Nature, c. 2021). Dr. Wang has been the principal investigator on multiple research grants and awards from the National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, and other agencies. He has collaborated with field-leading scientists, served on various grant review panels, acted as Editor-In-Chief and Editorial Board Member for several journals, and trained a number of scholars, some of whom have become well-known independent investigators in the field.
