<p>Dr Petros Perros studied Physiology and Biochemistry before becoming a doctor. He specialised in endocrinology and practised as thyroid specialist for 27 years in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He was a founding member, secretary and president of the European Group on Graves¿ Orbitopathy. He is patron of the British Thyroid Foundation and has served as medical advisor for several other thyroid patient organisations. He published more than 200 peer-reviewed academic papers and 21 book chapters, mostly on thyroid topics. He lectured as invited speaker in many national and international academic meetings. He is currently Visiting Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University having retired from clinical practice in 2021.</p>
