This book provides the basic concepts of electronic digital communication, applied to professional practice in communications engineering. The book begins with basic concepts of information theory and explains the need for digital communications, continuing with the basic schemes of digital communication prior to multiplexing, which applies to current digital communication networks, such as LTE, 5G and 6G. The book is intended for researchers, professionals, and second-year students of electrical engineering, electronics or telecommunications. It can also be useful to students in computer science, engineering physics or other disciplines who develop projects involving electronic communication systems.

Autorenportrait

Julio Cesar Garcia Alvarez received his Masters in Electronic and Computer Engineering (2000), Doctor of Engineering - Automatics (2012). With more than twenty years as a professor at the National University of Colombia (2001 until now), he has carried out most of his research projects in the area of digital signal processing, computational electromagnetics, multimedia networks and sustainable electronic systems. During his early working years (2005-2012), his main work was in digital image processing, specifically in the area of image quality assessment, resulted in his doctoral thesis, a research internship at Aachen RWTH University. Thereafter, he is currently working in the area of sustainable electronic systems, resulted in a project of social extent, an award for the same category, two master's theses, whose students have received awards in entrepreneurship, in addition to the construction of a sustainable irrigation system for greenhouses.
