The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the most recognized structures in the world and to some, one of the most controversial.  While there are many assumptions as to who conceived or designed the tower, there is no concrete evidence pointing to one person.  The book chronicles the history of the eight-century old tower including why it leans, the construction of the belfry, and efforts made to stabilize the building over the years.  The construction spanned three phases with great gaps in years due to wars, weather, and earthquakes.  Featured in the book are archival photographs, chronology of events listing, additional reading and website recommendations, chapter notes, glossary, and index.
