<div><p><b>David Philipson</b> (1862-1949) was born to German-Jewish immigrants in Wabash, Indiana. Ordained as a Reform rabbi in 1883, he fought anti-Semitism, imperialism, and corruption in politics. He was equally active within the Jewish community and in secular affairs. His writings include<i>The Union Prayer Book</i> (1892) and<i>The Reform Movement in Judaism</i> (1907).</p></div>
