Old MacDonald's Barn Dance Book is a collection of lively recorder duets based on popular dance rhythms. Although the pieces are musically complete when played as duets, many of them have optional keyboard parts so that they can be enjoyed as concert pieces or used for music-making at home. Voice and rhythm settings for the keyboard parts are included at the end of the book. As with all the "Old MacDonald Recorder Books" the emphasis in on the music being fun to play. Teachers will find that the strong rhythmic character of the dances will help pupils to develop rhythmic security in their playing.
