"The Last Hope" is a historical adventure novel by Hugh Stowell Scott, working under the pen name of Henry Seton Merriman, the author of "The Slave of the Lam" and "The Phantom Future." The story involves the sea and the brave seamen, and a ship named "The Last Hope." The name of the ship had a double meaning. It was the last ship in the "Hope" series built by the Farlingford company before its closure. Yet, it was also a beam of hope for many people depending on it.
